Haunting and inspiring.
It’s an award winner as well! I gave it 5 stars for the subject matter. (It’s a 4 star in my mind for the writing style). Almost every page has writing that breaks the rules: -ly endings or adverbs, words like “watch, see, felt, look,” many of the words editors train us not to use in our writing.
It took me several chapters to not allow the style to bother me. BUT, the storyline is definitely worth the read. I read it in 3 days, and the story stayed with me for several more.
Mrs. Kip reminds me of my mama. I relived my caregiving days as I read about Mrs. Kip’s decline, her strong precious faith in God, her physical struggles, and the fantastic way nurses and other caregivers treated her and other fragile and vulnerable patients within their reach. This book will cause you to do some introspection, and possibly inspire changes in how you view daily life.
