Author Generosity

#amwriting #writerslife

I’m a member of Inspire Writers. This group is on my generous list. Inspire announced that their website for Christian writers is now #6 worldwide. The group is no longer a regional one, it is national, and international.

The generosity of fellow writers and authors with their time and experience amazes me. It’s one of the reasons that I enjoy the writing community. Included in the generous group are editors and publishers that I’ve met at conferences and online.

A few weeks ago, I attended a free workshop they offered for members, non-members paid a small fee.

Our speaker was Sarah Sundin who writes series set in the World War 2 era.

(At this point in time, I haven’t even written an entire book. I’ve written stories for anthologies). One can never learn too soon about the next step, right?

Sarah described the writing life as “a waiting room. Lots of waiting.” Some of her points—

*Impatience can sabotage the process of getting published.

*Own the message you write.

*God teaches through waiting—it negates our control.

Her conclusion to us—”Keep your readers in mind.”

My conclusion—it’s my challenge to keep readers in mind. I understand what I’m trying to say, but do READERS?
